That is confusing.
The 106th Infantry Division arrived in France-ETO,
6 Dec 44, and is credited with three campaigns:
Rhineland, Ardennes -Alsace and Central Europe.
The 157th Infantry Regiment didn't get to France until
18 Mar 45, way after the Rhineland battles.
Stanton's WORLD WAR II ORDER of BATTLE also lists the Rhineland campaign for the 157th IR, but my impression is that this was a typo of some sort.
Stanton also lists the Aleutian Islands cxampaign for the 157th IR.That ran 3 Jan 42 / 24 Aug 43.
The regiment was attached to 106th ID, 18 Mar 45 to the conclusion of the war in Europe, 11 May 45.
When the war in the Pacific ended, 15 Aug 45, the 157th IR was located at Namedy,Germany, whereas the 106th ID was at Bad Ems, Germany.
Hope this helps.
Louie F. Turner.
You have the correct dates for the Northern France Campaign, 25 July 44 / 14 Sept 44.
