36th Armored Infantry Regiment, Company "H" , WWII
My grandfather was killed in action on 2/28/1945.He was killed on the Erft Canal at Glesch about 18 miles west of the city of Cologne, Germany. My mother was just a baby when he was killed in action and my grandmother spoke very little of him.
I am hoping someone out there knew him and if so, would be willing to provide information. We only have a few photographs of him.My mother has always wanted to know more about her father and I about my grandfather.I would like to pass this proud history and appreciation to my daughter.
I would greatly appreciate any information you could provide. My grandfather's name was, Herman James Easter,Sgt., nickname,"Sonny".He served with "H" Company, 36th Armored Infantry Regiment. He was from Radford,VA.He had sandy-blond hair and blue eyes.
Perhaps, you served with the 45th Armored Medical Battalion and cared for his injuries.Thank you so much for your time.
