Ken - I don't have an answer for the scenario you mentioned. Sorry. One example of a transfer/demotion that appeared on one of my father's Company reports was of a Tech Sgt. from Dad's platoon, who according to the Morning Report of Nov. 9,1944, " willfully shot self to avoid combat". He rejoined the company on Mar. 17, was demoted to PFC and transferred to another company in the same battallion on April 25,1945.He's probably lucky he wasn't killed by members of his old platoon! I think he got off relatively easy considering what he did... AND that it occurred just a month or so before the horific Battle of the Bulge. The Nov. report would be a terrible thing to read if the reader was the guy's son, daughter, wife, brother, etc.. I know who he was and he lived till 1992,hopefully with much guilt. Several members of his platoon that still survive, absolutely despised him. To my knowledge he received no other formal penalty other than the demotion.
