Looking for Jack H. McClure, USMC, WWII
I am looking for a Jack H. McClure (Pharmacist's Mate)of the United States Marines serving the"L" Co. 3rd Bn. 22 Marines, 6th Mar. Div. in WWII in the Pacific. He was with my father, James Troy Hill when he was killed in action on Okinawa Shima on June 12, 1945.
Jack H. McClure was originally from Monroe, Michigan and wrote my mother a very touching letter after my father's death. My sister, brother and myself only saw the letter after our mother's death in 1989.She had saved his letter along with all or our father's letters for all those years.
Jack said that the other guys referred to my father as the "old man" since he was a few years older than most of the guys and was married with 3 children.Jack also said that he first got to know my father on Guadalcanal and that he was also called "Jim" Hill. His family called him "Troy".
If anyone knows of this Jack H. McClure or if anyone may have known my father, I would most appreciate your contacting me.
