I just found some very intresting papers about my grandfather.I never knew him because he died when my mother was only 5 years old.
The papers I found was a recommendation for award of the Bronze Star Medal.
I am hoping that if I post this someone out there will reconize his name or the event and can share some information.
Proposed Citation:Private First Class Ezeckial R. Jackson,35652344,Calalry, Army of the United States. For heroic action at Morscheid, Germany, in evacuating four wounded men of the 19 th Cavalry Ren Squadron in the face of direct fire from enemy 88mm guns. This aided in saving the lives of the wounded.
Here are the names of the men he rescued: Pfc Hans Helbig, Cpl Melvin Thomas, Pfc Fazzingo, Pfc Wadman, and Pfc Stanton. Note: the above list five men, and the recommendation only mentions four.
Note: There was another man with my grandfather who I assume was also recommended for this medal his name , Pfc. Bernard Kapitansky.
I hope to get some response from this post and maybe it can help someone else out there.
