Civilian Technical Corps
I am currently researching the history of the Civilian Technical Corps, which was set up in June 1941 to recruit US civilians for technical trades in the UK. Many of the men became Radar Mechanics at radar stations in the UK, but there were also welders, electricians, auto-mechanics, wiremen and various other trades as well.
I have been able to trace a few men who served in the CTC, but would be delighted to hear from anyone else who was a member in whatever capacity. Records held in British official archives paint a distorted picture and I am trying to present a more balanced story of the organisation.
I would also welcome contact from anyone who had a relative in the CTC (whether father, uncle, brother or whatever) and if I can help provide additional details of what they did in the Corps, I would be glad to do so.
