Loren (Whitey)Larsen D-day 8th Infantry
My father Loren C. Larsen (Whitey) died 23 years ago leaving very little information about his history in WW2.He was well decorated and wounded at least twice. There is an insignia in his metals box that is a triangle with an 8 at the top, blue, red and yellow with a lightening bolt and something else in the center.I am assuming this was the sign for the 8th Infantry.
I know he went in on D-day. How can I find out about what his unit did from D-day through the end of the war?
Do you know of any information I could get from the government or any organizations/associations that represent this unit during this time?
