Stu - Without reading Louie's response first, I also checked the ABMC site. He's not listed there as Louie stated. According to your posting he was KIA not MIA. That may be an indication that his remains were recovered and re-interred in the U.S. after the war. What documentation indicates he was KIA or MIA? I believe that to havedeclared him KIA there had to be positive identification of his remains. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Do you have family members who could provide additional details? You can still apply for the IDPF without the serial #. All they can tell you is that they can't locate the file. Also, if you know the county/state from where he entered service, go to the NARA website and find his name and serial # on the Honor Roll of Dead and Missing. Try both ARMY and Navy listings. The ARMY listing includes the Air Corp and the NAVY lising includes the Marines.
