Re: Clark Frederic Roberds, 1943, MIA
Thanks for the thanks. I had to go back and review your original post to refresh my memory. I was pleasantly surprised, even though I frequently get compliments and comments from "old" clients.
I quit posting to the 'boards not long after I handled your inquiry. It had reached a point that I was devoting an ever-increasing amount time to the same boring, mundane people, asking the same, boring, mundane questions (while an increasing number "experts" wanted to debate or otherwise draw me into their little "chat groups") while paying clients were waiting in line!
Another message board had recently folded and a crowd of its "regulars" started "drifting in". These people had apparently transformed the other 'board into an "ol' home week chat room" or some such (which may have hastened or, at least, contributed to its demise). Despite repeated pronouncements of how everyone "loves and misses the 'old board", the webmaster has been trying to raise funds to get it back on line and, after about a year, still hasn't moved from square one - a measely four thousand dollars, for crying out loud!
It began to sound like a bunch of old fudds sitting around the pot-bellied stove at the general store - with some runny-nose kid occasionally butting in to ask a dumb question. I need all that like Custer needed more Indians.
Again, thanks for remembering me. It's always nice to hear from ol' friends.
