Samuel Wiggins and Susannah (nee Welch) came out with Collins and Thomas their second child was born on the Calcutta on the way. This is documented in Knopwood as well as other sources. At Port Phillip Ann the older one dies before Collins decides to move to Risdon Cove and then soon after Sullivan Cove (now Hobart) Risdon Cove massacre occurs in May, they left around late Feb (1804) from Risdon Cove so I dont think that Collins' people were involved. There were people left at Risdon Cove from the first expedition (Bowen) and they were involved. I am interested to know if any of Collins men helped. There were cannons fired that could be heard from Collins' camp, so the camp at Risdon must have been set up to defend in case the French did decide to settle.Samuel died in 1811 at that age of 36.There are some good references around, one that mentions the incident where the Aboriginal girl is taken into Samuel and Sussannah's home is a Dept Ed. (Tas) book called "Aboriginies in Tasmania, Living with the Land, Book one: invasion. The co-ordinator was Heather Felton. 1989.
I can email other references. You probably know of most of them.
