What about the family name that is associated with this town?That might help a bit.Is the person on the Ellis Island web site?
Remember just because the papers say Austria-Hungary that does not necessarily mean that our ancestors were coming only from those two countries.Of course up to 1918 it was Austria-Hungary empire but after the fall lot of several new countries were formed.
