Re: Lauzon Family of Ontario and Quebec
Hi I am looking for any information on a Emilie Lauzon who may have had a cousin or a nephew or a brother by the name of Donat Lauzon. Emilie was born Emilie Lauzon July 25 on or about 1869. SHe married on Jan 9th 1888 Joseph Vincent. Emilie had a habit of naming her children after people who had had a major impact in her life. She was adopted by a Jerimie Rivet and Sophie Cote who were childless. Her firstborn was named Joseph, Jeremie Donat Vincent. Emilie is my great grandma and my mother used to tell me about her cousin Donut. We could not figure out who it was until we found out about Donat. Emilie used to talk about a place called Hawkesbury Ontario. She was born in Ottawa Ontario but spent most of her childhood life with Jeremie and Sophie in the CLarence Creek Russel twp area which is only a short way from Ottawa. We beleive that Emilie may have been named after her mother Emilie or Emma and that Donat may be a nephew or even a brother or a relative. When Emilie married Joseph Vincent Sr. she was listed as Emilie Lauzon adoptive daughter of Jeremie Rivet and Sophie Cote. In many records, although Emilie married 3 times, Emilie is listed as Emilie Lauzon parents unknown. ALthough the obit says that Emilie was born in Ottawa, Hawkesbury and even some small french towns in Quebec were also considered part of Ottawa which makes her hard to track. Emilie was placed at the age of 7 in the Orphelinat St Joseph of Ottawa in October of 1875 and adopted March 1876 in 1875 she was listed as 7 in 1876 she was listed as five. According to marriage no. 2 she was listed as July 25 1866 born in Quebec (1901 census) yet in 1881 born in Ontario aged 11) She is a tough one and all we can go by is Emilie and the name Donat.
