Hi Charles,
Based on Mackay's Montreal Directory for 1857-58, this is what I found: Pg 339
WARNER, G.W., Echange broker and commission merchant40 St Francois Xavier
h:81 Durocher
WARNER, R.,Tobacconist147 Notre Dame
WARNER, Ed.,Carter73 St Urbain
Mackay's Montreal Directory: 1858-59
Pg 417:
WARNER, HughCabinet maker30 Hermine
WARNER, G.W.,Exchange broker & banker
40 St Francois Xavier
house: McArthur's Bldgs, StCatherine near Stanley
WARNER, R.,Tobacconist, store & residence
147 Notre Dame
As for SCANLANs: In 1857-58 there were 6 listed
1858-59: 8 Scanlan families listed.
I believe if Wm Henry Warner was born in 1858, on St Urbain Street, the family resided in either the St Lawrence Ward or St Jean Baptiste wards. Were he born in a hospital, at that time, it may have been HOTEL DIEU or Hopital Jeanne d'Arc. There hospitals were/are located on St Urbain street. In those days, however, many babies were born at home.
I hope this helps.
Lorraine
