Thomas,
Thank your for your ramblings. The information is very welcome, confirms some of what I have already found and adds depth of understanding to help me solve this problem.
Relative to your information, here are some additional points I would like your to consider and provide your thoughts:
1.) Solomon BELYEA, b. 1814, d. 16 Dec 1903, Carleton, St. John Co., New Brunswick, Canada and is buried Old Cedar Hill Cemetery & Carleton Burial Ground of St. John West, Canada along with 1st wife, Mary Whitney WHELPLEY and 2nd wife, Charlotte CRAIG. Mary Whitney d. 4 Apr 1853 and Charlotte d. 1923. This should prove that we have the correct Solomon BELYEA and that he was in fact married twice.

= v.14 #1272 9 Apr 1853 New Brunswick Courier = d. Carleton (St.John) 4th inst., Mary W. w/o Solomon BELYEA and d/o Capt Richard WHELPLEY, Kingston (Kings Co); On 7th inst. Solomon infant s/o above. Mother and child deposited in the same coffin and their funeral took place yesterday.

2.) With regard to the possibility of Solomon BELYEA having three daughters named Charlotte.
The 2nd Charlotte Eliza of mother, Mary WHITNEY died young.
!DEATH: Daniel F. Johnson, C.G.(C), VITAL STATISTICS FROM NEW BRUNSWICK NEWSPAPERS; 1836-1880 's continuing; privately published, Saint John, NB; continuing from other series as Vol 6 t o 60 plus: v.14/#1070 = v.14 #1070 22 Jan 1853 New Brunswick Courier = f. Carleton (St John) 16th =inst., Charlotte Eliza youngest d/o Solomon Belyea, age 3 yrs 3 mos.
The 3rd Charlotte, b. 1867 to mother, Charlotte CRAIG, I believe was named after 2nd Charlotte, her deceased sister or her Charlotte CRAIG, her mother. This being said, the 1st Caroline/Charlotte Amelia and the 3rd Charlotte would have both been alive in the same family at the same time. The 1st Caroline/Charlotte does not appear on the 1861 Census because she married in 1858 to Charles PORTER.

3.) Regarding the 1881 Census for Charles PORTER and wife Caroline, their daughter "Minnie" b. abt. 1860 is my great grandmother. Minnie PORTER is actually Mary Martha PORTER. She married John RIEBEL (b. 10 Oct 1854, New York, NY, d. 3 Sept 1935, Chicago, IL. John married Mary Martha/Minnie 17 Jan 1881, Chicago, IL. John RIEBEL's father, Jon RIEBEL sr., b. 1838 Germany, was not unfamiliar with Canada. He married a Mary DELMAGE from Ireland of German Descent. Dates and place of their marriage unknown. But, probably Ontario Canada or New York City abt. 1852-53.
Mary Martha used Mary, Mary Martha, Minnie and Mary M. on her various US Census's, marriage certificate, and death certificate. Mary Martha was listed as Irish and or Canadian on the various US Census.
I too believe that Collins S. BELYEA is her brother, the son of Solomon BELYEA and Mary Whitney WHELPLEY.
The inference here is that Minnie PORTER is Mary Martha PORTER and that Caroline PORTER is Caroline/Charlotte Amelia BELYEA, daughter of Solomon BELYEA and Mary Whitney WHELPLEY.
I still contend that the 1st Charlotte Amelia is actually Caroline Amelia. Aside from substantial circumstantial information, only the Christening record could prove this to be so. It appears that the only outstanding proof is her Christening record. What is the best way to obtain a copy of her Caroline/Charlotte's Christening record from Frederickton. Unlike most Americans, I have visited Canada many times. But I am totally unfamiliar with the Canadian library system. Will they loan to a US library? Is there someone local willing to do a lookup?
Your thoughts please.
