That does clarify things a bit. As the 'second' Charlotte did die young, the 'third' is obviously named for her.
As for getting the microfilm, go to any fair-sized library; shouldn't be hard in San Francisco. Ask for the inter-library loan department. You know which film you want and where it is. Ask them if a loan is possible through them. Also, make sure they have microfilm readers. I think its on 35 mm film. MIGHT be 16 mm, but 35 is pretty standard. You might want to check if they have their own films. They may have Canadian census films on file, for example. If an inter-library loan is not possible, the next thing would be to find a competent genealogist working on the Belyeas in New Brunswick. They MUST have consulted the film, and may have notes which would be of use. Try the Belyea GenForum.
From what I have seen, I have little difficulty accepting Caroline as Solomon's daughter. I have seen several instances in which a name that appears in baptismal records is later changed. Sometimes it is a switch between middle and first names, sometimes the middle name is altered, retaining the intial. Sometimes the clergyman made an obvious error with an unusual name and sometimes the name underwent radical amendments.
As for someone who might be willing to go to the PANB, I know of nobody, except professionals, who might do that. You could try finding a Fredericton Branch of the New Brunswick Genealogical Society:
Darrell Kitchen, President
30 Chippin Court
2003 Membership Fees: $25.00
and see if any of their members are willing to look for you. They may even have a transcript. As a society, they are reluctant to engage in active research on behalf of correspondents; not unusual as they receive over 400 requests per year, often to trace someone who was somewhere in Canada in the 1800's.
On the other hand, several of their members are interested in Belyeas, including:
Norma (WORDEN), GILBERT, 37 Lefurgey Ave, Apt 7, Moncton, NB, Canada, E1C 7G4,
Marlene, REID, 88 Hilltop Street, Hampton, NB, Canada, E5N 5P2, [email protected],
Terry & Irene, KELEHER, 102 Manners Sutton Road, Saint John, NB, Canada, E2K 2E1, [email protected],
Anna Marie, BELYEA, 1087 Route 103, Upper Woodstock, NB, Canada, E7M 3C7,
G Wayne, DOW, PO Box 3232, Walnut Creek, CA, USA, 94598-0232,
Darrell, BEDFORD, 104 Margaret Place, Brockville, ON, Canada, K6V 6Y3, [email protected],
Albert, SHORT, 37 Fuller Street, Halifax, MA, USA, 02338-1909,
Maureen, PIETRZYKOWSKI, 1804 Valley Oak Drive, Nanaimo, BC, Canada, V9R 6N1,
Martha, SMITH, 4351 NE Totem Place, Bremerton, WA, USA, 98311, [email protected],
Norma Gilbert is often at these forums, and while none live in Fredericton, Anna Marie Belyea in Upper Woodstock might have occassion to visit the PANB. This list may be outdated. I tried contacting those interested in Flewellings, and most of the e-mail addresses no longer existed. I would try to contact Norma. She is competent and knowledgeable. She may even have a copy of the Belyeas of New Brunswick. Try the Worden board for her, as she is extremely interested in that family.
