Re: CAROLINE ("CARRIE") AMELIA (BELYEA) PORTER 1844-1900
All of your research, help and advice is greatly appreciated. As you suggested, I requested and received the PANB christening church record for Charlotte/Caroline Amelia BELYEA. I received the "transcribed" version from PANB which has her as a Charlotte Amelia. Subsequently, I have rewritten PANB using your transcription explanation requesting help with access to the original church records.
Additionally, I located the 1861 Kings County Census which has Charles and Caroline PORTER (Caroline Amelia BELYEA married Charles Alexader PORTER Dec 1858 (with their children. Caroline is listed as 17 years old which would place her birth at 1844. Also listed as living with them is the Collins BELYEA age 14(brother in law) and Elizabeth BELYEA age 15(sister in law) to Charles PORTER. Elizabeth and Collins BELYEA are the children of Solomon BELYEA & Mary Whitney WHELPLEY and the brother and sister of Caroline Amelia BELYEA. Their census ages matches those of Solomon's children. Therefore, I believe that is very safe to presume that the 1861 census helps to prove that Charlotte Amelia BELYEA is actually Caroline Amelia BELYEA.
