Hi Rebecca
I'm glad I didn't waste your time then! I knew you were looking for a Sands/Wood connection. This one is interesting; the Wood/Allaby connection is multi-generational, even in my generation ...there were two families in Sheffield, Sunbury Co. when I was young.
Peter Wood appears on a list of Loyalists in Esther Clark's book, but not sure where he settled. The Gagetown Anglican Church baptismal records has a long list of Wood names.
And yes, there were Wordens in NY... my husband's family came from there. The Gilbert you mention is connected, not sure how. Gabriel Worden (s/o dr. Nathaniel, s/o Dr. Samuel, son of Peter 2, s/o Peter 1 from Lancashire, England)and Sarah Anderson arrived with their family in the Spring Fleet, 1783 from North Castle, Westchester, NY. Their son Jarvis Worden of the KAR was my husband's many times G-grandfather, original grantee who settled in Hampstead, Queen's Co.. the community was called Wordens until 1886 or so when they got a post office, changed the name to Evandale. Jarvis ran a hotel and ferry service there for many years ... in fact, today it is called the Evandale Inn, a lovely B&B.
