Birth of George Derbyshire
Hello Everyone ~
I am looking for information regarding the birth of Geo. H. DERBYSHIRE.
I have found info on the web stating that he was born in Chile and S. America. In 1870, at the age of 21, his Marriage information says he was born in S. America. He was a bookkeeper.
The only U.S. Census he is located in is 1870 Philadelphia, when he was listed as a Music teacher, age 20-21.
His parents were foreign born.
There is absolutely no other U.S. Census with any DERBYSHIRE's born in S. America or Chile.
Immigration(passenger lists)only reveal one possibility:
23 Jun 1852; Geo H. DERBYSHIRE, age 1y 6m; Departed from Callao, Peru aboard the Br. Mary Winch and arrived in Baltimore, Maryland.
He was traveling with DERBYSHIRE, Henry, age 25 and Caroline, age 22 plus another infant, age 2 mos.
I have also been unlucky in tracking down a Henry and Caroline DERBYSHIRE.
The passenger list also says they all belonged to the United States and intended to become inhabitants of the United States.
A reply to one of my posts said that I should be able to contact the Anglican Church in Valparaiso for a birth record but I have not been able to find out how to contact that church.
This has been a 10 year search for me with nothing but dead ends.
Any hints, tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your assistance ~
Dori
