There are two TAKOUSHIS families in Cyprus. One originates frpm the village of Lefkoniko in the north part of Cyprus and the second one from Larnaka. The word itself has no meaning as such it is what is known as an "echoplastic"word i.e like babies call a clock "tik-tok" from the sound it makes. The bearer of the name had a heavy walk and wearing the old heavy boots he could be heard coming... At least this is the story I heard from one Takoushis (from Lefkonico). A more credible etymology is a derivation from turkish verb "takismak"= to tease one another (being good natured). I hope this helps.
