Has anyone ever heard of anyone named FUHR from Fuhr Oldsum Denmark/Germany?

I've only just started researching our family history and have been stymied since I discovered that Fredrich William Fuhr seems to have "dropped out of the blue" into New Orleans, LA. about 1850.
