Bright Ideas for Research in the 1940s
Hi
I have just received a Death Cert which indicates a death from "War Operations". I then checked the CWGC and found that ESTHER FOLWELL died on 16 October 1940 at a Woking Hospital after receiving injuries on the 13th. She lived in Clapham Rd Stockwell. She was a civillian.
This raises many questions!
1. Where did the CWGC get it's information?
2. Would the deaths be in newspaper reports and where should I look?
3. I have found a Ministry of Defence site by Google but get hopelessly lost as to where the bombing might have occurred.
Can anyone help me??
TIA
Marlene (New Zealand)
