John Rew son of Wm. Rew,
I have been looking for information of my gggrandfather for years.I think perhaps I am closing in.This is what I believe at this time and if anyone has ideas or suggestions I would love to hear from you.
John came to the US in 1835 on the underride.
He was the oldest son, b.Jan 29 1834 in Ireland (I believe this may have been Dublin) of William Rew b.abt 1782 and died Jan. 3 1850 and Louisa Scott b.1814 (christened July 19 1814) the daughter of John and Mary (?Knox)in Godmanchester, Huntingdonshire, England, Louisa and William lived much of their time together in Falkirk, Stirlingshire, Scotland. William was a constable there, but before that he was in the 90th Regiment of Foot which was at Dublin, Ireland and then the Indies. One of John's brothers James b.1839 and even perhaps William Jr. b. 1837 were born in Ceylon, East Indies. The remainder of the children were born in Falkirk. They were Robert b. 1841 and died 1914 in Glasgow, married Grace Stewart Bennett in Milton, Glasgow, Scotland. Next was Mary Louisa b. 1843 and married Wm. Bankier in 1881. Christina b. 1848 (in Glasgow or Falkirk) married Michael D. Toner and lived in Glasgow St. George, Lanarkshire in 1861 and in 1881 Glasgow Barony, Lanarkshire.
After William Rew Sr. died, Louisa married in 1851 a William Miller in Falkirk.
