Re: SEEKING Parent, Ann Cooper 1831 Chesterfield, England
I'd come to the same conclusion Jackie, regarding the 1841 census, until, belatedly, I looked at the 1851 census in Brampton where there's
Joseph Cooper head marr 47 Stone cutter b Wirksworth
Elizabeth Cooper wife 40 b Brampton
Hannah Cooper dau 18 Incapable of work b Brampton
Georgiana Cooper dau 8 b Brampton
Alfred Cooper dau 6 b Brampton
Albeatania Cooper dau 4 b Brampton
Agnes Cooper dau 1 b Brampton
So Hannah couldn't have been Ann who married Levi as they were married and living in Brimington in 1851. In fact Hannah was baptised at Brampton on 28 Oct 1832. So I now think that the Brampton family may be (is!) a red herring, particularly as Ann consistently gives Hasland as her birthplace. Brampton and Hasland are four miles apart on opposite sides of Chesterfield.
I think that the Brampton couple are probably Joseph Cooper and Elizabeth Turner who member submissions ie unreliable on the IGI show as marrying at Brampton on 29 Apr 1830. But there's another marriage, at Chesterfield, on 30 Dec 1828 between Joseph Cooper and Elizabeth Mills (IGI Extracted so reliable). At that time Hasland was a township in the parish of Chesterfield, and I suspect that these were the parents of Ann, whose baptism in Chesterfield on 26 Sep 1830 Jackie has already found. Would be good if I could them in censuses!
