The surname is sometimes listed as Naismith & Naesmith.
1841 Scottish Census - residence -
Sandy Ford Dumbarton Rd, Barony, Glasgow.
After his death in 1942, his widow Margaret & children emigrated to Australia.Records list them as Baptist religion.
Family history story:
William was manager of a Lancefield Woollen Mill in Glasgow.
After his death a monument was erected in his honour by his mill workers.
Apparently it was in the surname Naesmith.
Not sure if this monument is in Glasgow or in England.
On Ancestry Trees some people have his place of death as Glasgow and others have England.No confirming data has been given.
