You are a genius but this has opened up a can of worms for me - at this moment I am in a fog but I need to get some certificates.
I LOST reference(about 1861) to my g-g-granddad John who was born in Wolsingham, son of George and Barbara He married Sarah Broom 9-9-1844 and had 9 children and is shown on 1861 census. In 1871 Sarah was found to be living with son Edward and thereafter.Strangely John and Sarah and first 3 children lived at Golden Alley in 1851 and his birthplace was given as Northumberland Newcastle yet he was baptised 10-4-1825 at Wolsingham, Co.Durham.and the 1881 census shows he was born at Wolsingham with a brand new family to Jemima. Then I found on BDM a marriage of John and Jemima AKISTER in 1865 which is probably shortly after the time he left Sarah (first child John was born 1864 !)
Now as you know,in 1871 a John Alcock was boarding with a Jemima TULIP and his birthplace was Newcastle under Lyme which is in the midlands ! I ought to give up and have a coffee or something stronger here ! Never mind your listin 1871 at 22 Burleigh St shows Jemima Tulip with
a son John G Tulip who could be the John age17 on the 1881 census with a change of name to Alcock and as you spotted Jane and Thomas are there and John G living in the household married to Mary.
Once again thanks for your diligence and I wish I had more time but I am neglecting other dutiesat present. We have to keep in touch I feel, would you rather e-mail me ?
Kind RegardsJohn
