Re: Wolter/Wolters Lineage
Dear Jim Woolums:
By now it's february 2004.
I must say I did not advance in my search for members of my Wolter relatives that may have remained in Germany or elsewhere.
It is remarkable what you said about names that have beenin use in the Wolter tradition: Friedrich, Wilhelm, Frederika,
Wilhelmine, Daniel, August etc etc. I guess all in the tradition of naming children with names of the Prussian Kings or Hohenzollern clan.
I will travel to Berlin next July. I will attempt to search
at some official government offices for information about those Wolter that lived in East/West Prussia and of whom there is no trace.
Recently I traced relatives from my mother's side (Gogolin, Seiler, but also from the same German etnic area, in what became (after WW1) Poland. One sad advice I was given by them is that "etnic Germans who did not leave those areas at the end of WW2, most likely did not survive retaliations by either invading Russian forces or the native (Polish).
Should I find a source of search in Berlin, I will post it here. Stay well. Federico Guillermo Wolter/Friedrich Wilhelm Wolter
