Re: Neudrossenfeld.... Doerfler research
Claudia, just so that all of your information is accurate, I wanted to make you aware that you have misspelled the name of the town. The correct spelling is Neudrossenfeld.Note that there is an "o" in the middle, not an "e", and the name is written together as one normal word; that is, lower case "d" in the middle.
By the way, you mention "the town around Neudrossenfeld".But Claudia, Neudrossenfeld IS the town!
Neudrossenfeld, today a town of about 4000 people, is located in the District (in German: Kreis) of Kulmbach about 8 miles south of the city of Kulmbach in the region of northern Bavaria (in German: Bayern; capital: Munich) known as Upper Franconia (in German: Oberfranken), the administrative seat of which is the city of Bayreuth.
One more thing:The correct spelling of the name in Germany is Dörfler, or if written without the "Umlaut" (two dots) over the "o", Doerfler.A spelling "Dorfler" does not exist in Germany. So you are trying to locate family that are descendants of Johannes Dörfler, not Johannes Dorfler.
Having checked the local telephone directory, there are about 30 listings for the name Dörfler in Neudrossenfeld today.
