Ritmar/Rittemyer, Retemeyer ?? Iowa, Missouri and Illinois
Hi,
I have been researching since 1986 but on one line I can't gain any. I have one great grandmothe who was from Germany that I can't find out anyything on because I can't figure out what her last name was for sure. I have found it as all these spellings and more. One other was Bettmeyer.
Wilheminie 'Minnie' Retemeyer was born Jun 1854 in Prussia Germany and I also have Hannover but am not postive of that. She traveled to the United States in 1857 or in one census 1856. Because of the lack of a last name for sure I can't find her on a ship with any parents or relatives she traveled with but as a three year old she had to have came over with someone.
She married my great grandfather Alphonso Rudolph Moore who was born in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia on 05 Mar 1845.
I can't find a marriage for them either but they lived in Iowa, Illinois and Missouri.Where would they have been likelyto have departed from in Germany this family and what port would they go through?Any German Records or spelling help or anything would be appreciated and will be willing to get some help from Germany if needed to find her.
They lived the last years I have them tracced to in Richland County, Illinois in 1900 and 1910 after that I lose them but think they could have been in Chicago or Cook County, Illinois but am not sure am looking for them after 1910 and wondering if they died somewhere with no record or headstone marking the spot. I found Alphonso's father who was buried with no marker here and that was by death certificate as there is no marker for him and the sexton's records burnt once so they are sketchy.
Thanks for any suggestions anyone might have. I sure would appreciate any ideas or help on this lady who I am now so curious about after all these years of looking.
