Brennan, McGuire, Larkin in India 1800 to 1851
Attempting to trace further details of my ggrandmother Anne Elizabeth Hogan (nee Brennan) and her time and family in India.
According to her death certificate Anne was born in London, England c. 1826, f. Michael Brennan, a soldier, m. Anne Ryan.
At some time after her birth it is probable that Anne accompanied her parents and siblings? to India.
Anne first married Patrick McGuire, a sergeant in HM 21st, at Dinapore, India, 4/4/1842, at age 15. They had a son John (Jack) McGuire. Most probably Patrick McGuire died in India as Anne married again.
At age 24 (c. 1850) she married Patrick Larkin at Calcutta, India. 3 male and 2 female children resulted from this marriage and I am still attempting to confirm the details.
Family Search lists a Mary Ann Larkin f. Patrick Larkin, m. Anne born 9/7/1847.
Next we hear of Anne is her entry to Australia.
She arrived at Hobart, Tasmania, with husband Patrick Larkin aboard "Cornwall", 20/6/1851. Patrick was by now a Chelsea pensioner guarding the convicts aboard ship. With them were John Maguire Larkin, (presumed to be Anne's son with Patrick McGuire), Thomas Larkin, b.c. 1849 and Patrick Larkin, b.c. 1851.
Events after Anne's arrival in Australia are reasonably well documented and would need to be posted in a different forum
