Patrick BYRNE m Bridget FORD abt 1850s
I finally have a county. One of the cousins filled out his WWI registration card and he had the question, where was your father born?Instead of Ireland, he wrote "County Mayo Ireland."Wow was I pleased!
I have Thomas Joseph Byrne born Nov 1861 County Mayo and died 1933 in Troy, Rensselaer, New York.He immigrated to the US about 1881/2.He married Mary Elizabeth McDonnell, who immigrated in 1880, in the US about 1884/5.His death certificate listed his parents as Patrick Byrne and Bridget Ford.
I also have another Byrne that was VERY close to my Byrne, and I think he is a brother, Martin B Byrne born Nov 1864.He immigrated to the US about 1886.
I looked at that land record from the 1850s and only six parishes had a Patrick Byrne and at least one Ford or Forde family. So I suspect the family came from Bekan, Bohola, Kilcolman, Killedan, Knock or Toomore.Sadly, three of these parishes down have records far enough back.*sigh*But maybe the other three will pan out.
Anyone think they have a match?
