To expand on what Susan wrote to you. There was another Giovanni Alberghini(age 46) with wife Caterina (46) and son Giacomo (8) who all arrived in 1904 and going to Springfield, MA.Giovanni Stated that he lived previously in Springfield, MA for what appears to be 12? years. This family was from Renazzo. It is a good chance that this is the same Giovanni who arrived August 1, 1892 from Cento going to Boston.Renazzo and Cento are about 3 miles apart.
Couple of thoughts about the Nicoli family.Currently there are 8 Nicoli in the city of Springfield that I can find ranging in age from 92 to 31.Anthony L. being the oldest. If they are willing to talk about family through a letter or telephone it could be a goldmine of information for you.
Have you attempted to contact the Springfield city clerk for a death record of Alfonso?I have had good luck with the Springfield city clerks office, most post 1900 vital stats are computerized and indexed now. With some luckyou may be able to get his death record if he died while living in Springfield.I would also try contacting the church office of St Anthony's rectory (413) 732-0589 for additional family info. Its a good chance this was the Italian Catholic church the family attended.
good luck
John
