Hello , My grandmother was from Carini, and so were all of her ancestors at least into the 1600's. I have MANY resources I've copied over the years including all deaths in the town from 1820-1851, as well as photocopies of every entry in the two earliest census the mormons filmed.
I hired a priest from Palermo to go to the town and trace my lines back past the civil registration period (for Carini that is 1820..even though many towns in Italy started in 1808/1809) He went to the Vica Chiesa or the mother church and went through the old baptisms and marriages and was able to get me well into the early 1600's on most lines. Then I used the 1655 census to get back two or three generations further in many lines. I have 50 or so compiled huge binders of pre-1860 records. As you can imagine I connect directly to every family in the townbut here are the ones I can pull from memory, LEONE, MARCIANO, PASSALACQUA,CONIGLIARO, BUFFA, CATALDO, BENVEGNA, FERRANTI, PISTONE, GAMBINO, CRACCHIOLO, SCIARRINO, ALAMIA, MIGLIORI,
BUZZETTA, CALDERONE, ROMANO, RANDAZZO, and so many many more. These are direct ancestors I have made little effort trying to add in siblings, etc.Its all in Family Tree Maker. If you need some help getting back or want me to look up something for you let me know. I have Gambino well into the early 1700's.
Take Care, James Bianco
