Re: Kupetz - is this name Latvian?

Thank you for the information.Genforum was the first site I visited.I never visited the other site or did the other searches that you mentioned.
My grandmother left Latvia in 1886, with her stepmother Pauline Buschatzke Kupetz and a few siblings.Her father was already in New York for a couple of years.
She spoke German andthe census of 1900 said thefamily came from Russia, but she always said she was born in Latvia, as were most of her siblings.
