Thanks for pointing out the repeat of the name. I typed it, reviewed it and STILL didn't notice ! : should have read FREDERICK MITCHELSON/MICHELSON.

As I said in my original posting, I have no further info re Frederick's background.I appreciate he could have been German or even Russian maybe, or Polish or Danish as the Baltic port now Latvia was fought over and changed boundaries several times - from what I've read !

Do not know how the original name was spelt.Just hoping that somewhere in that Baltic port there are still family members who kept in touch with Frederick at some stage of his life and will recognise the background.

Slim chance I know - but researchers never give up hope!
So - if anyone can offer any help or suggest possible links
I would be so very grateful.
