Hi Arturs,
Thanks again for the email! It took me a while to get a few answers to the questions you had, but hopefully now these will help.
My understanding is that Martins and Lucija were actually from just outside of Riga (they had a farm), and instead of fleeing from Riga to Sweden during the war, they fled to Ventspils and then headed to Sweden. They were a family of 5 with 2 boys and a girl (John/Janis, Zigrida, Zigirt?- I'm not sure of the spelling of his name).
Here are the answers to a few of your questions:
1) Martins and Lucija were married
2)Lucija's birthday would have been approximately Dec 30th 1922. Martins was a bit older, and may have been born in the 1910s (I have to still investigate this), and his birthdate was Jan 3
3) Martins bred horses on a farm just outside of Riga. I believe they were a part of breeding the special Latvian horse that now exists
4) There is little to no documentation for Riga, other than perhaps a birth certificate for their daugther Zigrida
5) I don't speak or write any Latvian. I could perhaps find someone that does
6) We aren't aware of any other Jakovics
7) Apparently Marta, Antons and Janis sound familiar
8) They were Lutheran
Any other information you could provide would be so appreciated. Just the time and help you've already provided is very much appreciated.
Thanks!
Ann
