Norbert,
Than you for replying to my post. I also found this information in Philadelphia, but was thrown completely off because his Citizenship application gave all information as coming into New York. I have a copy of a "Certificate Of Arrival" signed by D.W. MacCormack, Commissioner, dated and sealed that states that his port of entry was New York, N.Y.; Name: Julian Ciuch; Date: April 14, 1913; Manner of Arrival: SS George Washington. BUT I cannot find him on any of the Ships Manifests for New York. VERY CONFUSING! He came to the U.S. with NO CLOSE RELATIVES! He may have traveled with a friend. He is the only one in his family that came to the U.S. except a Nephew named John Chuck (Americanized) who arrived several years after Julian, and who settled in Philadelphia, and has since passed away leaving no relatives. So I continue to investigate. Perhaps you are correct in saying that he may have went to New York first, then to Philadelphia...but I have not heard of that happening before (on ships).
If you have anything that might "clue me in on this mystery" I would appreciate any information.
Thanks Again,
Veronica
