Researching Joseph OMILJAN & wife, Sophia [Theophila] TOCZYLOWSKI. Would like to locate birth, death, marriage and resting place in Poland, possibly Krasnoborki, Sztabin or Warsaw, Poland, area.
Three known sons of this couple immigrated to the US, two of which settled in Iron River, Iron Co, MI, in the early 1900's.
These sons are:
1. John (Jan) OMILJAN (born 1885/1886) who married Marianna (Mary) SZCZESNA [Sezna] in Iron Co, MI, in 1911 (my family line).Mary's parents were Anton SCZCESNY (SEZANY) and Veronika DOMBROWSKI [DABROWSKI], both of whom died in WI & MI respectively.
Immigration for John lists him being born in Krasnoborki, Poland; US port of entry Baltimore, MD, arriving on The Rhein in 1907. (Source: State Archives of Michigan, HAL, Lansing MI)
2. Walter [Vladislav] OMILJAN [AMEIJAN on immigration records] (born 1890) who married Katie [Cazimiera] KOSLOWSKI in Iron Co, MI, in 1917. Katie's parents were Vincent KOSLOWSKI & Marianna JURCZAK.
Immigration for Walter shows his birth in Sztabin, Poland; US port of entry Phildelphia, PA, arriving on the vessel Prinz Oskar in 1905. Source: State Archives of Michigan, HAL, Lansing, MI)
3. Ladislaus OMILJAN who married Maria KISIELOWSKI in Iron Co, MI, in 1916. Maria's parents were Paulus KISIELOWSKI & Julia WAGNER. Nothng is known about this brother.
Source: Iron Co, MI, marriage records (which also listed parentage of these individuals).
Oral history states that the Polish roots may be in Warsaw, too. John & Walter lost contact with their Polish kinsmen during WWI.
Any information on Joseph & Sophia OMILJAN is much appreciated.
