Re: 1900, 1910 & 1930 U.S. Census Records. for Stanislawa Ptaszynski Family
I can only add to, and confirm the extensive information already provided by Dell and Mary.
There are 1900, 1910 and 1930 U.S. census records for the Stanislawa/Stacia/Stella Ptaszynski family.
In 1900, they are indexed on Ancestry.com as Stacia “Ptaninska” living in Lemont Village, Cook County, IL.
In 1910, they are indexed on Ancestry.com as “Ignaty Lashinski” living in Lemont Village, Cook County, IL.
In 1930, they are indexed on Ancestry.com as Martin Ptaszynski living on McCarthy Road in Lemont Village, Cook County, IL Stacia/Stella is a widow in 1930..
Andrew Ptaszynski is not listed in any of the census records. It appears that Dell is correct that Stanislawa Ptaszynski (a widow?) married Ingnacy Sierzchula on October 2, 1892.Andrew may have died between his immigration on May 10, 1889 and October 2, 1892.
Stanislawa/Stacia/Stella was born between 1860 and 1864 in Poland/Germany.She was married to Andrew Ptaszynski and Ignacy Sierzchula.Ignacy was born between 1848 and 1850 in Poland/Germany (died May 7, 1916in Lemont, IL).She and Andrew had six (6) children, of which four (4) survived:Martin born on November 11, 1885 in Poland/Germany, Sylvester born on November 28, 1887 in Poland/Germany, Julia born in May 1888 in Poland/Germany and Alice/Angela born in May 1890 in Illinois.
As Dell already indicated, the family immigrated to the U.S. on May 10, 1889.
In the 1900 U.S. census, there is no notation made about the family’s naturalization process. The 1910 U.S. census indicates that Ingacy, Martin and Sylvester were naturalized U.S. citizens. It would appear that Andrew died before completing his naturalization process and therefore both Martin and Sylvester (and perhaps Stacia) had to file their own papers.
Ignacy Sierzchula does not appear with the family in the 1900 U.S. census. It appears that he may have been in Poland during that time.
There are two passages for an Ignacy Sierzchula:
On April 14, 1890, he arrived in New York with his wife and two (2) children on board the S.S. Gellert. His last residence was listed as Rakojady Germany. It is unclear what happened to his wife and children after they arrived in the U.S.
On July 30, 1903, he arrived in New York again on the S.S. Graf Waldersee. His last residence was listed as Roszkowo Germany. His destination was Lemont, IL where he was going to join his wife and children. Both Rakojady and Roszkowo are near to each other about 37 kilometers from Poznan. It is unclear if Andrew, Stacia, Martin, Sylvester and Julia were from these same villages.
Like Dell, I believe the St. Cyril and Methodius microfilm #1571873 would contain the “mother lode” of Ptaszynski family information.
