Records for Agnes and Adam list Agnes' name as Jankewicz and Jarkewicz. In 1888 Agnes married John Kewicz; Jan is Polish John, so Jan Kewicz was written as Jankewicz.Polish 'w' pronounced 'v'.If you look at the columns on census records, 'can speak English' = 'no' for John Kovidge in 1900; 1910 census column 17 'Whether able to speak English, or, if not, language spoken' - 1910 census for Adam indicates 'Polish'.It is very possible that census enumerators wrote what they heard for the surname from someone in the household, leading to the many spellings for records you find.
