Dang!!!! I'm totally ignorant about all this stuff. My great grandmother was Mary, or Maria, Zygmunt. She immigrated to the US right about 1900, but I don't have an exact date. I know that her fathers name was Marcin, and he died in an accident of some sort prior to her immigration. Her mothers name was Anna Szczych and she died about 1905. In 1907 she took my Aunt back to Brzoza with her to visit her family and she stayed with a brother, Josef Szczych. They returned to the US on October 25, 1909. I know that prior to WWI she had 8 brothers alive. She went by several different birthdates, so who knows. On the manifest when they returned it states she was 26. On hospital papers I have of hers she was born Nov 1, 1867.In actuality, I think she was born about 1876. When she married my great grandfather, his name was Josef Zavada, or Zawada. He was from Lechnica, Slovakia, but my grams said they spoke the same language. My great grandfather came to the US in July 1901. They were both Roman Catholic. Thats about it. If there is anything else I can think of, or if anyone has any suggestions, Please let me know. And thanks so much for the response.
