Dear Barbara, I like this name as my the only sister is Barbara :)
I see your big efforts to uncover Polish roots of your uncle Alexander Kotarski from the US, his Louis Bronislaw Kotarski, their Felix Kotarski and Amelia Kotarska nee family Studzinski from Poland. I see huge help of our forum friends Pat, Norbert, Gilberto, Jerry, etc. Now it's absolutely time in your life and genealogical search to invite you to visit (virtually for now, I wish you form all my heart visiting this land personally by you in future) the beloved place of birth and childhood of yours from Poland, their Polish church attended by them every Sunday for the holy mass - the place of the marriage and burring of all their Polish ancestors. Please see some webpages giving you chance to touch family homeland, and to imagine the hard life of the ancestors in the 19th century under the Russia rules ; this land is located in the central-northern part of Poland, on the way we may go from our capital Warsaw to the very old town Torun, alongside Polish main river Vistula-Wisla, I remember this beatiful land going many times with my family from Warsaw to Torun, and also to the north to Baltic sea for the summer vacation.
I. The place of the birth of the Louis Bronislaw (~1878) is Steklin, town Lipno county, province of town Plock area, you can read first base info with Polish Wikipedia;
II. The place of the birth of the brother Alexander (~1873) probably is Osiek located near this Steklin:
III. You can see all this land from our Angels' view, please use the computer mouse and go on the local roads between the Steklin and Osiek, through beatiful woods finally going to big river Vistula, use also zoom + in and - out, just imagine their lands and roads in the 19th century Poland/Russia:
IV. Every polish gmina (county) has now it's own website, so, you have occasion to use it to see local land pics, with these beatiful woods and small lakes:
Steklin is gmina Czernikowo:
Osiek is gmina Obrowo, you can see also how Poles are living there in the 21st century:
Their local town (shopping, etc.) was Lipno:
The Steklin parish and church probably was Czernikowo, you can see two pics giving chance to see holy place (family cemetery is located at the church) of yours Studzinski's from Poland:
Finally, I've tried to check if any family Kotarski/Studzinski has survived in these places, and here is my work with Polish censuses 1990/2002, and Polish phone directories:
In this village Steklin, 2009 Poland: no family Kotarski or Studzinski, supposingly they left village in the 20th century, moved to near towns, looking for better life and education for their children.
In this village Osiek, 2009 Poland: no family Kotarski, and one family Studzinski: Boleslaw Studzinski, Osiek, Poland, ph. number: +58 676 89 56
In this local town Lipno:
1. Jerzy Kotarski, Lipno, Poland, ph.no: +54 2882418
2. Roman Kotarski, Lipno, Poland,ph.no: +54 2874299
3. Stanislaw Kotarski, Lipno, Poland, ph.no: +54 2874299
And 3 families surnamed Studzinski - all these records confirm your family origin with surnames, although we cannot tell if they are closely related to your Kotarski's and Studzinsk's left and hardly living in Poland in the 20th century, as hardly as your ancestors in the US after immigration.
Hope this work enrichs your Polish Roots Family History Book, good luck in your search and life,
