Jacob, Josefa, Apolina & Bronislawa "Sulscka" Solecki Ancestral Home
I am posting this message on Richard's behalf.
I hadn’t connected to genealogy.com in a while and for some reason they cannot seem to send me the e-mail with my password and user. Somehow your e-mail popped up so I am using the direct route until I can get back on the forum.
Your post to Bernice Dolecki follows just as a refresher as it goes back to 2009...but I have seen 2013 posts by you so you still appear active on the forum.
The people you are referring to are my wife’s parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles,....
Jacob and Veronica Solecki were her grandparents, Henry her father.
With the documents I have I piece the things together a bit differently.
On certain documents Jacob declares being from Mazowsze, if I understand correctly more a region (previous duchy) than a city. Staring at what looks like Chorupnik for a long time on a document relating to Jacob’s mother, Josefa (Josephine) Ryszkowska, and looking at Mazowse and towns and villages, my conclusion is that this is Hornówek, Mazowieckie, Poland. My assumption is that the “ch” may be the phonetic transcription of the clerc of what may have been a very heavy accent, and very poor penmanship.
Regarding census information and Rose C., this does not make sense as my wife knows only one grandmother...Veronica. I think I saw her called Rony somewhere so Rosy (Rose C.) is not that much of a stretch...And in the 1940 census Veronica is “back” so again, nick name with heavy accent or what not. Ages on the 1930 cencus are delirious as Henry was 9, not 5...1930 is the only aberrant one as 1910, 20 & 40 are coherent in terms of age vs birth day. There is no child named Veronica that would have been 20 in 1930...actuall no girl of that age closest are boys... How did they recruit the census people????
Veronica’s maiden name was Piascik, born in Komorow Russia-Poland in approximately 1887. I had found the Ellis Island record that had a grotesque name error, totally by chance, but now have lost it ... It was so enormous that I will probably never find it again... Interestingly there is a Komorowo in Mazowse, now part of Ostow. Generally, arrived in the US people would seek out others from the same area.
Veronica’s parents are Stanislaus Piascik (B: 03 Dec 1850/D: 27 Dec 1928) and Josephine Kutakowska (B: 01 Jan 1847/D: 24 Apr 1943) so from Komorowo.
I have a ton of information but I just can’t make that link back to the old country...
Any input much appreciated. Feel free to post this in the forum until I can get back on.
