Re: Marie Boczi and Ksenia Billa
Sorry, no luck in locating a passage record for Ksenia/Xenia/Sadie “Billa”.
I came across a few documents that might give a hint to her and her husband George “Pribulick’s” ethnicity.
There is a WW I Draft Registration Card for a George “Prybylak” (Perhaps his valid Polish surname was Przybylak) living with his wife Xenia on Broad Mountain Ave. in Frackville, PA.According to that record, he was Russian and a subject of the Austrian Hungary Empire. He was born on March 25, 1879.
The 1920, 1930 and 1940 U.S. census records indicate that both he and his wife spoke Ukrainian and they were born in Austria. The 1920 census has more detail which I cannot make sense of.It indicates that they were Russian and “ruth” (probably Ruthenian) and were born in “Czandronova”
My interpretation of these census records is that George & Sadie are from an area that is now in the Ukraine that was once a part of Galicia.
The given names of Ksenia and Janko indicate to me a Russian influence.
Maybe someone on this Forum can help decipher what “Czandronova” means?
