mehigan/mehegan, motherwell 1920's

I have an In Memoriam card for Liam MacEogain (its in Gaelic so that is as close as I can get) which mentions Motherwell and a date of 1921.

I wondered if anyone might have information on either the name or a Catholic church in Motherwell.
