MURRAY and SCOTT families of Hawick, Rox, SCT

Hello all

One of my ancestors was a Jane Weir Murray born about 1837 in Hawick.Her parents were David Murray and Margaret Scott.

I would like to find out when David and Margaret got married, and also when and where they were born.This is quite difficult, given how common the two names are.

I'm also trying to find out whether Helen and Robert Scott, boarders in the McNaughton household in Hawick (in the 1881 census), are related Scotts.

Helen (b. 1 Jun 1865, Hawick) and Robert (b. 31 Oct 1867, Hawick) were born to Robert Affleck Scott and Jane Hislop (m. 9 Aug 1864, Hawick).

I would assume, if they are to be related, that the father of Robert (snr) may have been a brother of Margaret, and so he would have been a cousin of Jane Weir?
