Bernard (Barney) Moran 1800's Eire

Hello, My name is Paul Bernard Moran. I was born in 1980 in Falkirk in Scotland. My Fathers name is Bernard Moran (born in 1941, Falkirk Scotland) and I'm trying to help him out construct a family tree- only we don't even know where to begin!
His Father was also called Bernard Moran- he was known as Barnie though. All I know is that he was from ireland (eire). I obviously still need to look out the birth certificates and so on but I just thought I'd message here on the off chance that someone had any information or was looking to connect a Moran Family line into ireland and scotland.
