Lingo family of Carnbee, Perthshire
I am seeking info regarding the Lingo family. I've seen
numerous entries on the LDS site that my ancestor, William
Lingo of Accomac, Virginia was born in Carnbee, Fife. Does
anyone have some reference point for me to turn to? I know
that the surname Lingo is a sept of the clan Graham and has
also been associated with the Dalyell/Dalziel family. I also
know that Lingo (West Lingo) is a placename in Fife, including a farm, a house, etc that is there to this day.
Are there any Lingos living in Scotland today? Are there
gravestones of those that didn't come to America? Did the
farm and house belong to my family at some point? I don't
think that the Lingos have lived there since maybe early
1600s. Any info that anyonecould give would be very helpful. If my ancestors lived there pre-1700s would there
be any written documents of birth, baptism, etc?
Having a difficult time!
Thanks for your help!
