Alfred Robins m.1877plus Sth Africa; William Smith and Annie P (b.Dunham)
Looking for the Robins family, possibly from near Johannesburg, Sth Africa early 1900s but equally possibly from the UK/Scotland.
Alfred Robins married in 1877 (don't know where) and the couple celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1927 - (source: newspaper clipping).
We're trying to find the link between them and the widowed Annie Phlinda (Dunham)Smith whose husband William Smith (1875-1907) died in a goldmine near Johannesburg in 1907 leaving her with two children.
A couple of years later, Annie remarried (James Duncan 1872-1915) and had 2 more children in 1910 and 1911.
James' death certificate mysteriously states Annie's maiden name as Robins, as do several other documents we've found.
However, most of our documents agree with our extensive research that her maiden name was Dunham, b. 1879 in Silver Lane, Hawnes, Bedfordshire in England.
We have a newspaper clipping of the Robins'golden anniversary with Annie quoted in the caption as saying they're her son's grandparents.
But, they're not, genetically speaking.
Did Annie have a Robins husband between Smith and Duncan?
Did Smith's father die when he was a baby and his mother married a Robins when Smith was 2?
Anyone recognise this scenario?
