Harris Herries of Ayrshire Scotland
Hi, Is anyone else researching the Harrises or Herries that were forced to leave Ayrshire in the 1600's and removed to Northern Ireland? My line is from Edward Harris and Flora Douglas and is placed in Group 3 of the Harris DNA study.Their descendant immigrated to Lancaster, PA and remained there for several years. One brother Thomas remained there, another William lived in Cecil, Maryland and the other brothers headed south. Charles, Robert, James and Samuel lived in Mecklenburg, NC and oldest brother John loved close by but on the South Carolina side of border. There also is a cousin James Harris who married Jane McKinley that moved from PA to Boutetourt, VA and lived to 110.We are not sure if he was a brother to Edward but was in some way related I believe. Another line is that of John Harris who was married to Eleanor Reynolds by Re. Thomas Clark in Ireland. The also emigrated but later. The Harrises/Herries apparently sided with the Campbells. They traveled with the McCalls, Calhouns, Baskins, Hamiltons, Blacks, Pickens and Alexanders.I know very little about the Ayrshire history and how it relates and would appreciate any help!
Thanks,
