Yes, the spelling would be Baltic, but in staying true to the pronounciation of their surnames most people changed the spelling of their surnames when arriving to the US, Canada or Australia. (the "ic" ending is pronounced "ich" and means something like "son of", like the "son" following some english and scandivanian surnames or the "Al-" prefix to certain arabic surnames.
